Join me for a May flowers drive as we explore some interesting back roads in the north end of the Puget Sound.
This is a fun 50-plus mile drive along scenic back roads to lunch at the famous Rhodes River Ranch, located just outside of Oso, WA. It is on the second floor of a horse arena, with a glass wall for a view of the horses. There is no special event scheduled for this day, but people can be observed working their horses from time to time.
The lunch menu is quite extensive and is moderately priced. There are gluten-free items on request.
From here, everyone can make their way home through Arlington to Highway 9, and from there, connect to I-5 if desired. Of course one can always trace the route in reverse, or get lost on the maze of parallel roads on return.
We will meet up at 9:30 AM across from the Monroe Chevron on Highway 2 at the east end of Monroe in the Monroe Plaza shopping center. Driver’s meeting will be at 9:45 for a 10 a.m. commencement of activities.
Meet at:
Monroe Plaza 19829 US 2, Monroe WA
And end up at:
Rhodes River Ranch
22016 Entsminger Rd
Arlington, WA 98223
(360) 474-8313
This will be about a two-hour drive with two 20 minute rest stops spaced somewhere in the middle of the drive.
After lunch, we are taking a short drive to the Oso Slide Memorial for those who would like to join us
Directions from I-5:
Take the highway 2 exit east in Everett. About 40 miles from the exit.
Highway 522:
Drive north on Highway 522 to the end in Monroe and take Highway 2 east.
Hope to see you there!
