Host: Charlotte Fellers
Join President Charlotte Fellers for this drive that starts in Auburn, and, as is often the case, ends with food. The drive begins at the Starbucks on the corner of Auburn Way South and 15th St NW in Auburn. Arrive by 9 a.m. and take a minute to get a cup of coffee and use facilities before the drive meeting at 9:15. We'll head out through some back roads to Enumclaw and a quick rest stop at Mud Mountain Dam before heading up to the Pacific Crest Trail Head.
You'll see some great views of Mt. Rainier and the valley below the trail. Winding roads will be your reward on the first part of the drive. Don't expect to see much snow in the higher elevations, but bring a jacket because it may be a little cooler on top of the overlook than down below. You'll have some nice photo ops and some winding roads to enjoy on this drive.
Once we reach the summit, we'll have the chance to stretch our legs, walk up to the trail if you like, and use the facilities before we make a U-Turn and head back toward Black Diamond and a lunch stop at the iconic Black Diamond Bakery. You can head home on your own afterward.
